What direction to take in the EU migration policy?

On 2 February, 2021 an online event discussing EU migration policy was held by the Representation of the European Commission in Hungary, with the participation of the European Migration Network.

The topic of discussion was the new Pact on Migration and Asylum, presented by the European Commission on 23 September 2020, a package of proposals for reforming EU migration policy.

The event was opened by Gábor Zupkó, Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Hungary, followed by the introductory presentation by Borbála Szigeti, Head of the Political and Economic Analysis Department of the Representation, who explained the main elements of the new Pact on Migration and Asylum. Afterwards dr. Mátyás Hegyaljai, Deputy State Secretary responsible for the European Union and International Affairs, presented the Hungarian position on the reform of EU migration policy.

During the seminar, participants had the opportunity to ask open-ended questions, which were answered by representatives of the European Commission and the Ministry of the Interior.
